Dimanche, en milieu d’après-midi, c’est sur une vidéo circulant sur les réseaux sociaux que les responsables du terminal de Martissant ou Terminal Propane SA ( Terpro SA) ont remarqué un incendie qui s’est déclaré sur leur site, a appris Le Nouvelliste. « Un camion, garé au terminal, a pris feu. Il est fort probable qu’il ait essuyé des tirs dans le secteur car des groupes armés s’y affrontent depuis le 1er juin 2021 », a confié off the record une source proche du terminal en début de soirée.
« Le feu s’est éteint tout seul. Nous avions entre-temps appelé les sapeurs-pompiers. Ils ont dit qu’ils devaient avoir un accompagnement des agents des corps spécialisés de la PNH, BOID ou Swat », a confié cette source, qui a exprimé l’inquiétude et l’impuissance des responsables de ce terminal.
« D’après les photos et les vidéos que nous avons vues, l’intégrité du terminal n’est pas menacée. Mais la situation reste volatile parce que nous avons du stock. Nous ne savons pas ce qu’ils feront après », a indiqué cette source, soulignant que ce terminal a une capacité de 7 millions de gallons de produits pétroliers.
Pour le propane, ce terminal est le plus important dans le pays avec une capacité de stockage de 2000 tonnes métriques, a rapporté cette source, qui a souligné que cet énième incident tombe au plus mauvais moment.
« Il y a eu une situation de rareté sur le marché. C’est à cause de notre fermeture depuis plus d’une semaine », a ajouté cette source. « C’est nous qui avons la plus grosse capacité de stockage sur le marché avec 2 000 tonnes métriques. Nous avons du propane au terminal. La situation reste très volatile », a martelé cette source.
Depuis le 1er juin 2021, les gangs s’affrontent à Martissant, coupant la capitale des quatre départements du grand Sud. Le conflit a poussé hors de leurs résidences des milliers de familles et asphyxié les activités dans le secteur. Pour le moment, les Premiers ministres qui se sont succédé n’en finissent pas de faire des promesses d’un retour à la normale à Martissant.
« Je donne la garantie que le tronçon de route de Martissant menant vers le grand Sud sera dégagé et le contrôle sera repris par la Police nationale d’Haïti (PNH) qui, malgré ses faibles moyens, peut se réjouir de probants résultats dans la lutte contre l’insécurité et le banditisme », avait promis le Premier ministre Ariel Henry mi-février. Il avait souligné que la route de Martissant, contrôlée par des groupes armés depuis le 1er juin, laquelle donne accès aux régions du Sud, redeviendrait comme elle était avant.
« Dans les meilleurs délais, la police dégagera la route de Martissant. Le rôle du gouvernement et de la police est de permettre la libre circulation des personnes et des biens. C’est l’une de nos grandes priorités », avait affirmé Ariel Henry, chef du Conseil supérieur de la police nationale ( CSPN).
