Le tireur présumé était un « ami personnel du ministre »
Le ministre de l’Environnement de la République dominicaine, Orlando Jorge Mera, a été tué par balle lundi par un proche dans son bureau à l’intérieur du ministère, a annoncé le porte-parole de la présidence.
« Les informations que nous détenons pour l’heure indiquent qu’aux premières heures de la journée aujourd’hui (lundi) le ministre de l’Environnement a perdu la vie dans une attaque armée dans son bureau », a déclaré Homero Figueroa. « Miguel Cruz, la personne identifiée comme le tireur, était un ami personnel du ministre », a-t-il ajouté, précisant qu’il a été « arrêté » et qu’une enquête est en cours pour connaître le mobile du meurtre.
Un proche de la victime
Selon trois sources au sein du ministère, qui ont souhaité garder l’anonymat, un homme armé a fait irruption lors de la réunion hebdomadaire que tenait le ministre avec ses vice-ministres et a ouvert le feu. Ce proche de la victime a pu avoir un accès facilité aux zones de sécurité à l’intérieur du ministère.
La police s’est refusée pour l’heure à toute communication. Les équipes de l’AFP sur place ont vu entrer dans le bâtiment des unités d’élite de la police. « Nous sommes consternés par ce qui s’est passé », avait plus tôt tweeté le ministère de l’Environnement dont le bâtiment à Saint-Domingue a été évacué. Le ministre de l’Environnement était le fils de l’ex-président dominicain Salvador Jorge Blanco (1982-1986).
