Les exportations chinoises augmentent malgré les droits de douane américains : un commerce réorienté

Les exportations chinoises ont enregistré une hausse de 8,1 % entre avril 2024 et avril 2025, selon les dernières données officielles. Cette augmentation survient malgré une chute spectaculaire de 21 % des exportations directes vers les États-Unis sur la même période. Ce paradoxe apparent s’explique par une réorientation stratégique du commerce chinois, notamment vers les pays d’Asie du Sud-Est.

Le Vietnam, la Malaisie et la Thaïlande figurent désormais parmi les principaux partenaires commerciaux de la Chine. Les exportations chinoises vers ces pays ont fortement progressé, et nombre de ces marchandises sont ensuite réexportées vers les États-Unis. Cette pratique permettrait d’éviter une partie des droits de douane imposés par Washington depuis la guerre commerciale lancée sous le premier mandat de Donald Trump.

Depuis l’instauration de ces tarifs, les entreprises chinoises ont élaboré divers stratagèmes pour contourner les barrières douanières. Certaines méthodes sont légales, comme la délocalisation partielle de la production ou l’assemblage final à l’étranger. D’autres relèvent de la fraude : falsification de documents d’origine, sous-évaluation des marchandises dans les déclarations douanières ou encore réétiquetage dans des pays tiers pour masquer l’origine chinoise.

Ainsi, si les chiffres officiels montrent une baisse des importations américaines en provenance directe de Chine, ils masquent en réalité un commerce qui s’est adapté. Le flux de biens chinois vers les États-Unis ne s’est pas arrêté : il a simplement changé de route. Ce phénomène souligne les limites des mesures protectionnistes dans un monde globalisé et interpelle sur l’efficacité à long terme des guerres commerciales.
