Inondations: des habitants de Pèlerin 5 appellent à une intervention du ministère des Travaux publics.-

Des résidents de Pèlerin 5 dont les maisons se situent en aval d’une ravine sont confrontés à des inondations après chaque pluie. La dernière en date est survenue dans la soirée du mardi 22 octobre. Les eaux torrentielles ont envahi deux propriétés situées à quelques mètres de la résidence du président de la République Jovenel Moïse. « Notre cour a été inondée hier soir. De nombreux dégâts ont été enregistrés. Nos latrines ont été détruites. Les eaux ont infesté notre propriété de déchets, ce qui nous fait craindre des maladies liées à l’insalubrité », s’inquiète Chantale Pierre qui vit dans la zone avec sa famille depuis plusieurs années. « Quand nous avons construit notre maison, nous ne pouvions pas prédire une telle situation parce que les eaux de la ravine restaient dans son lit. Tout s’est dégradé parce que les gens jettent des déchets en amont », se plaint-elle. 

Ineau Charles, un autre résident, déplore le fait que les habitants sont obligés d’affronter seuls cette situation alors qu’ils sont les voisins immédiats du président de la République. « Nous vivons dans la peur à chaque débordement. Le président et sa femme ont déjà effectué plusieurs visites mais rien n’a été fait jusqu’à ici », révèle-t-il. 

La commerçante Marie Louise Volcy, qui explique que les eaux de la ravine ont l’habitude de quitter leur lit et envahir les rues ou les maisons, appelle à une intervention urgente du ministère des travaux publics. « Il faut agrandir et surélever le pont. De plus, il faut restaurer les murs de protection et désengorger le lit de la ravine. Sinon, on ne peut pas s’empêcher de craindre le pire », a-t-elle fait savoir.
