La police des Maldives a récemment procédé à l’arrestation de Fathimath Shamnaz Ali Saleem, ministre d’État à l’Environnement, pour des accusations de « magie noire » prétendument dirigée contre le président Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Les autorités ont maintenu Mme Saleem en détention pendant une semaine, le temps de mener des enquêtes approfondies sur ces accusations. Malgré la nature spectaculaire des allégations, la police n’a pas encore confirmé ces faits rapportés par les médias locaux.

Cette arrestation intervient dans un contexte de tensions politiques accrues aux Maldives, où des croyances traditionnelles en matière de sorcellerie et de magie noire peuvent encore influencer la perception publique et les dynamiques de pouvoir.

L’affaire suscite de nombreuses réactions, tant au niveau national qu’international, mettant en lumière les défis auxquels sont confrontées les Maldives en matière de gouvernance et de modernisation des institutions.
