Ces drones, que certains soupçonnent d’être d’origine russe ou chinoise, ont été repérés au-dessus de bases situées en Virginie et au Nevada. Parmi les sites concernés figure la base de la Marine SEAL Team Six, connue pour abriter des opérations spéciales hautement confidentielles.

Cependant, malgré la menace potentielle que représentent ces engins, les lois fédérales actuelles interdisent à l’armée américaine de les abattre ou de brouiller leurs signaux. Cette contrainte laisse les États-Unis vulnérables à un espionnage possible, sans qu’une solution immédiate ne soit envisagée pour neutraliser cette menace.
