L’économiste Enomy Germain a soulevé des préoccupations importantes concernant la récente annonce du Gouvernement de facto concernant la baisse des prix du carburant. Selon M. Germain, cette mesure est un simple « maquillage », car les autorités n’ont effectué qu’une réduction marginale de 1.75 % sur les produits pétroliers, malgré une baisse significative de 12 % sur le marché international de septembre 2022 à juillet 2023.

Depuis des mois, les citoyens ont été confrontés à des hausses répétées des prix du carburant, ce qui a eu des répercussions négatives sur leur pouvoir d’achat et leur qualité de vie. Face à cette situation, le Gouvernement avait promis une baisse des prix pour soulager les ménages et les entreprises. Germain estime que le Gouvernement se doit de fournir des explications claires sur les critères et les méthodes utilisés pour établir cette « baisse de prix » annoncée. Les citoyens ont le droit de comprendre comment cette décision a été prise et pourquoi elle ne reflète pas la réalité du marché mondial du pétrole.

De plus, l’économiste souligne que cette mesure est d’autant plus critique étant donné l’impact du carburant sur l’inflation et la vie quotidienne de la population. Les hausses continues des prix ont des conséquences néfastes sur l’économie du pays et sur la stabilité financière des ménages les plus vulnérables.
