La rédaction de Lakayinfo a scruté les comptes des réseaux sociaux des hommes politiques et des membres du gouvernement haïtien, en particulier ceux du président Edgard Leblanc et du premier ministre Garry Conille.
À notre grande surprise, aucun message de soutien ou de vœux n’a été partagé à l’égard de l’ancien président américain Donald Trump, qui a échappé de justesse à une tentative d’assassinat en pleine campagne présidentielle.
Seule exception notable, l’ancien premier ministre haïtien Laurent Lamothe a exprimé sa solidarité via un tweet touchant : « Je suis profondément bouleversé par la tentative d’assassinat contre le Président Trump. Cette violence insensée n’a pas sa place dans notre société. Mes pensées et prières accompagnent @realDonaldTrump et sa famille en ces moments difficiles. »
Il est important de rappeler aux membres du gouvernement haïtien que le président Biden ne se fâchera pas si des messages de soutien sont adressés à Donald Trump. Trop de susceptibilité ne sert ni la démocratie ni les relations internationales. Au nom de la démocratie, nous recommandons à nos dirigeants de suivre l’exemple de Laurent Lamothe et d’exprimer publiquement leur solidarité en ces moments difficiles.
