Des scientifiques japonais ont créé une nouvelle méthode d’imagerie cérébrale permettant de détecter un type de molécule dans le cerveau appelée récepteurs AMPA, qui aident à envoyer des signaux entre les cellules cérébrales.
En examinant 149 patients souffrant de différents troubles de santé mentale (comme l’autisme, la schizophrénie et le trouble bipolaire), les chercheurs ont découvert que la quantité et la position de ces récepteurs AMPA peuvent affecter différents symptômes.
Par exemple, les personnes autistes présentaient davantage de récepteurs AMPA, ce qui pourrait expliquer pourquoi elles se sentent parfois dépassées par les informations sensorielles, comme les sons ou les lumières.
Cette découverte pourrait conduire à de meilleures façons de diagnostiquer et de traiter ces troubles, aidant les médecins à comprendre d’où viennent les symptômes et comment les cibler.
