Selon les déclarations d’ARAB à la presse après sa libération, il a confirmé que c’est bien le Premier ministre Garry Conille qui a orchestré sa sortie de prison. Bien qu’il n’ait pas explicitement expliqué les raisons de sa libération, on peut déduire que sa mission consiste à servir de médiateur entre les gangs armés et le gouvernement pour faciliter un dialogue tacite. ARAB a également laissé entendre que l’influence du gouvernement Conille pourrait bientôt s’étendre à des zones sensibles comme Grand Ravine, Martissant, et Lasaline, suscitant des inquiétudes quant aux intentions réelles de cette manœuvre.
Myrtil Marcelin, plus connu sous le pseudonyme de « ARAB », un militant politique au passé tumultueux, a été libéré de manière controversée ce mardi 13 août 2024, par décision du Premier ministre Garry Conille. Cette libération, qui suscite de vives réactions au sein de la population et de la classe politique haïtienne, intervient après qu’ARAB ait passé plusieurs mois en cavale.
ARAB avait été arrêté le dimanche 7 juillet 2024 à Delmas 43, sous des accusations graves d’incitation à la violence et de complot contre la sûreté intérieure de l’État. Il avait réussi à s’évader du Pénitencier national lors d’une attaque spectaculaire menée par les criminels de la coalition « Viv Ansanm » dans la nuit du samedi 2 mars 2024. Pendant sa cavale, ARAB n’a pas cessé de faire parler de lui, en se rendant dans les quartiers généraux des gangs armés et en faisant l’éloge de la coalition criminelle à travers des vidéos diffusées sur les réseaux sociaux.
La décision de Garry Conille de libérer ARAB serait motivée par un besoin de médiation entre les gangs armés et le gouvernement, dans le but d’initier un dialogue non verbal visant à apaiser la situation sécuritaire dans le pays. Cependant, cette libération est perçue par beaucoup comme une compromission dangereuse, remettant en question la crédibilité et la légitimité du gouvernement.
À peine libéré, ARAB n’a pas hésité à déclarer que cette libération est le résultat direct d’une décision du Premier ministre lui-même. Il a également promis que le pouvoir de Conille devra, dans un délai d’un mois, atterrir dans des quartiers sensibles comme Grand Ravine, Martissant, et Lasaline, ce qui pourrait être interprété comme une menace voilée ou un avertissement aux autorités.
En outre, ARAB a profité de l’occasion pour critiquer sévèrement d’autres figures politiques, renvoyant dos à dos Claude Joseph et Martine Moïse, soulignant ainsi les divisions profondes au sein du paysage politique haïtien.
Cette libération laisse planer de nombreuses interrogations sur les intentions du gouvernement Conille et sur l’avenir immédiat du pays, alors que la violence des gangs continue de sévir.
