La commune de Mirebalais est orpheline d’un fils adoptif.
Haïti a perdu un grand Ami.
Si le terme « les amis D’Haiti » a souvent été galvaudé, l’américain Paul Farmer est, et restera pour toujours, une exception à la règle.
Pendant plusieurs décennies, le docteur Paul Farmer a œuvré en faveur du développement de l’arrondissement de Mirebalais et du département du Centre en général.
Son œuvre est immense, notamment, dans le domaine des infrastructures sanitaires et de la prise en charge des malades.
La ville de Mirebalais doit au docteur Paul Farmer sa réputation en matière d’infrastructure sanitaire de référence. En dépit des imperfections, l’hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais (HUM) demeure le plus grand hôpital D’Haiti.
Les hôpitaux intermédiaires à travers le département du Centre, fonctionnent grâce à l’aide de « Zanmi Lasante » , une organisation créée par le docteur Paul Farmer et le défunt père, Fritz Lafontant.
Paul Farmer a contribué à l’émergence et à l’intégration sociale de plusieurs générations d’hommes et de femmes de Mirebalais et du Plateau Central.
Comme digne Ambassadeur, Paul Farmer a contribué à la construction de nombreux établissements scolaires dans des zones rurales.
Toute sa vie , il a utilisé son leadership et son rayonnement international en faveur des projets structurants pour Mirebalais et le département du Centre.
Paul Farmer devait aider le département du Centre à se doter d’un grand campus universitaire.
Il est à espérer que ce projet se concrétise pour que ce campus universitaire porte le nom du docteur Paul Farmer.
Être un ami D’Haiti n’est pas suffisant pour parler du docteur Paul Farmer.
Ce dernier est en effet le fils adoptif de Mirebalais. Son mariage avec la très belle et merveilleuse créature Mirebalesienne, Docteur (e) DiDi témoigne toute son affection pour cette communauté.
En ma qualité d’ancien représentant au Parlement de la circonscription de Mirebalais et de Boucan Carré, je présente à la famille endeuillée, aux collaborateurs du docteur Paul Farmer, au peuple américain, les condoléances émues de la population de Mirebalais et du Plateau Central en général !
