L'accusation a demandé 20 ans de prison pour Humala

Le procès contre l’ancien président péruvien Ollanta Humala, son épouse Nadine Heredia et d’autres accusés dans la version locale de l’affaire Lava Jato a commencé lundi à Lima.

Les accusations comprennent le traitement irrégulier des fonds des sociétés brésiliennes d’Odebrecht et de l’OEA ainsi que d’autres ressources financières fournies par le gouvernement vénézuélien du président de l’époque Hugo Chávez.

Le scandale Odebrecht implique des allégations selon lesquelles l’entreprise brésilienne aurait soudoyé des fonctionnaires dans plusieurs pays d’Amérique latine en échange de lourds contrats de sous-construction. Dans le cas du Pérou, l’ancien directeur Jorge Barata a reconnu que ces allégations étaient vraies, bien que Humala ait nié à plusieurs reprises les accusations.

Humala fait également l’objet d’une enquête pour des opérations de blanchiment d’argent impliquant le financement des campagnes électorales de 2006 et 2011. Selon le parquet, en 2006, l’argent serait venu du Venezuela, tandis qu’en 2011, l’entreprise de construction brésilienne aurait livré 3 millions de dollars américains à l’entourage d’Humala, à la demande du Parti des travailleurs (PT), dirigé par Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Lula lui-même a été emprisonné pendant un an et sept mois au Brésil dans le cadre de l’affaire Lava Jato. Il a finalement été libéré en 2019 par la Cour suprême fédérale.

Le procureur péruvien contre la corruption Germán Juárez doit maintenant prouver que les personnes impliquées savaient que l’origine de l’argent n’était pas légale, car au moment des événements, la falsification des comptes de campagne était une infraction administrative et non une infraction pénale.

La défense d’Hhumala a également nié tout lien entre le Venezuela et le financement présumé de la campagne électorale d’Humala en 2006.

Juárez a demandé 20 ans de prison pour Humala et 26 ans pour Heredia, pour ne pas avoir déclaré les dons millionnaires.

Parmi les autres accusés dans l’affaire figurent la mère, un frère et un ami de Nadine Heredia, en plus de l’homme d’affaires Martín Belaunde Lossio, ancien conseiller de campagne d’Hhumala, qui a été pris dans la jungle bolivienne après avoir fui le pays pour échapper aux poursuites.

D’autres anciens présidents ayant fait l’objet d’une enquête dans le scandale Lava Jato sont Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006), arrêté aux États-Unis et en attente d’extradition, et Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (2016-2018), assigné à résidence. Alan García (1985-1990 / 2006-2011) s’est suicidé en 2019 alors qu’il était sur le point d’être arrêté.
