Si ByteDance refuse de vendre, l’application pourrait perdre l’un de ses plus grands marchés, ce qui serait un coup dur pour l’entreprise et les créateurs de contenu dépendant de la plateforme.
De son côté, ByteDance a déclaré que cette vente est pratiquement “impossible”, pointant du doigt les règles strictes imposées par le gouvernement chinois sur la technologie et les données sensibles. Pendant ce temps, TikTok s’appuie sur le Premier Amendement pour défendre son droit à opérer aux États-Unis, affirmant que cette mesure est une atteinte à la liberté d’expression.
Les juges américains ont toutefois rejeté ces arguments, confirmant la légitimité de la loi.
