Garry Conille est définitivement nommé Premier ministre. C’est sous la pression de la communauté internationale que le Conseil présidentiel (CP) a pris cette décision, selon les informations de Métronome. Cette nomination intervient après une semaine de tensions et de tentatives infructueuses des membres du CP de nommer une autre personnalité.

La semaine dernière, les membres du CP avaient envisagé un autre candidat pour le poste de Premier ministre, mais des diplomates se sont rapidement mobilisés pour contrecarrer cette initiative. Un tweet de l’ambassade des États-Unis a finalement poussé le CP à abandonner ce projet controversé. Washington a également rappelé à l’ordre certains membres du secteur privé qui finançaient un autre candidat pour le poste de Premier ministre.

Selon Métronome, un membre influent du CP aurait déjà reçu un véhicule de marque Mercedes de la part du secteur privé. Ce conseiller aurait presque réussi à bloquer la publication de l’arrêté nommant Garry Conille.

Le Département d’État américain a rappelé ce jeudi que le gouvernement de Conille doit être crédible. Conille, qui s’apprête à entrer en fonction avec des pouvoirs étendus, se retrouve à nouveau face aux défis d’un pays gangstérisé, où il avait déjà échoué lors d’un précédent mandat en tant que Premier ministre.

Le nouveau Premier ministre devra mener l’action gouvernementale aux côtés d’un Conseil présidentiel qui, jusqu’à présent, peine à trouver sa voie. Les attentes sont élevées pour que ce gouvernement soit capable de restaurer l’ordre et la confiance dans un contexte particulièrement difficile.
