Dans la nuit du 11 au 12 septembre 2024, quinze présumés membres du gang armé « 103 zombis », opérant à Gressier et à Léogane, ont trouvé la mort après s’être accaparés d’un dépôt appartenant à une commerçante locale. Selon des témoins, les bandits auraient consommé une grande quantité de clairin, une boisson alcoolisée locale, avant de succomber, laissant planer la thèse d’un empoisonnement, soutenue par plusieurs membres de la population civile qui se réjouissent de cette issue.
À leur arrivée sur les lieux, les forces de l’ordre ont découvert les cadavres entourés de plusieurs armes à feu de différents calibres, confirmant la gravité de la situation. Notre correspondant permanent dans la région des Palmes rapporte que la police locale a immédiatement confisqué les armes retrouvées, sans encore avoir annoncé de bilan officiel.
