Haïti – Varreux : la PNH installe une base permanente pour reprendre les territoires contrôlés par les gangs

Port-au-Prince, 8 août 2026 — La Police nationale d’Haïti (PNH) durcit sa présence dans la zone de Varreux après de violents affrontements avec des groupes armés opérant notamment à Varreux et Wharf Jérémie. Les forces de l’ordre ont décidé d’y établir une base permanente, avec pour objectif de renforcer leurs opérations et de reconquérir les territoires jusque-là contrôlés par les gangs.
Selon une source policière citée par Lakay Info, cette nouvelle implantation doit permettre aux unités engagées sur le terrain de disposer d’un point d’appui permanent et de faciliter les opérations contre les groupes armés qui imposent leur loi aux habitants des quartiers concernés.
Une présence policière renforcée à Delmas
Cette offensive ne se limite pas à Varreux. Lakay Info a également constaté le déploiement d’importants effectifs de différentes unités de la PNH dans plusieurs secteurs de Delmas, notamment à Delmas 31, Delmas 33 et Delmas 75.
Cette présence accrue intervient alors que la commune connaît une recrudescence des cas de kidnapping. Le renforcement du dispositif policier est ainsi perçu avec soulagement par plusieurs habitants, particulièrement préoccupés par la multiplication des actes d’insécurité.
Pour les forces de l’ordre, l’enjeu est désormais de maintenir une présence suffisamment durable pour empêcher les groupes armés de reprendre les positions perdues et de sécuriser progressivement les axes stratégiques.
À Varreux comme à Delmas, la PNH semble vouloir passer d’une logique d’intervention ponctuelle à une occupation sécuritaire plus durable du terrain. Reste à savoir si ce nouveau dispositif permettra effectivement de modifier le rapport de force avec les groupes armés et de restaurer durablement la sécurité pour les populations.
