Deux représentants influents de la SDP, Me André Michel et Marjorie Michel ont rencontré ce mardi 22 novembre 2022 l’ambassadeur de la République DominicaineFaruk Miguel Castillo, dans le souci de faire comprendre au gouvernement Dominicain qu’il vaudrait mieux mettre un terme à l’expulsion massive des migrants haïtiens en République Dominicaine.
Les représentants du SDP ont dressé un tableau de la situation économique, politique et sécuritaire du pays tout en réaffirmant la volonté des politiques dans le processus de dialogue initié par le gouvernement d’Ariel Henry, de mettre fin à cette crise fatidique.Toutefois, conscients que le nombre de migrants légaux est inférieur au nombre de migrants illégaux, il conviendrait d’user d’une politique plus souple laquelle consisterait plutôt à les régulariser en lieu et place des expulsions. Les membres de la SDP ont demandé au gouvernement dominicain de fournir à ces migrants illégaux un titre de séjour renouvelable.
Ils ont fait aussi mention des difficultés de renouvellement de visas que rencontrent les migrants haïtiens notamment les étudiants ce qui créent de nombreuses cas d’irrégularités sur le territoire Dominicain.
Tout en espérant que l’ambassadeur Faruk Miguel Castillo reste ouvert à ces propositions et accéde à leur demande, Me André Michel et Marjorie Michel, sollicite du chancelier haïtien le Ministre Jean Victor Geneus, de travailler avec la république Dominicaine afin de trouver une solution durable à la crise migratoire entre les deux pays voisins.
