Le jeudi 12 septembre, un premier contingent de forces en provenance de la Jamaïque et du Belize est arrivé en Haïti, s’inscrivant dans le cadre d’une mission multinationale visant à soutenir le pays en proie à une crise sévère et à la montée en puissance des gangs. Ce groupe comprend 20 militaires et quatre policiers jamaïcains, ainsi que deux soldats du Belize, qui viennent s’ajouter aux 400 officiers kényans déjà présents sur le terrain depuis cet été.

Ces nouvelles troupes ont pour mission de préparer l’arrivée d’autres forces provenant des pays de la Communauté des Caraïbes (Caricom). Ce renforcement des effectifs est une étape cruciale dans les efforts régionaux visant à stabiliser Haïti et à rétablir la sécurité dans un contexte de violence croissante des gangs.
