UPDATE: Per our request, DHS just announced they are automatically extending work authorization for all 4,650 Haitian TPS beneficiaries whose applications were still pending as of today.

« DHS vient d’annoncer qu’ils ont automatiquement prolongé l’autorisation de travail pour tous les 4, 650 Haïtiens bénéficiaires de TPS dont les demandes étaient encore en suspens à partir d’aujourd’hui », lit-on dans un autre Tweet du sénateur.
Avant d’aboutir à cette décision, l’élu de la Floride a addressé une lettre, en conséquence, aux autorités de l’immigration américaine dans laquelle il les a interpellés sur les retards enregistrés dans le renouvellement de permis de travail d’une centaine d’Haïtiens bénéficiaires du statut temporaire (TPS).
Le délai qui était valide pour une durée de 6 mois expirerait ce samedi 21 juillet 2018 a rappelé M. Nelson dans sa correspondance. La nouvelle extension est valide jusqu’au janvier 2019.

Actuellement plus de 32 000 Haïtiens vivent aux Etats-Unis grâce au TPS et sont menacés d’expulsion par l’administration de Donald Trump. Soulignons que le délai de ce statut temporaire prendra fin le 22 juillet 2019.
