« Ngo » est un nom kikongo qui signifie léopard et qui a donné naissance au nom du royaume KONGO (royaume du Léopard) qui est devenu en ces temps modernes CONGO. Central dans l’Histoire du pays comme dans la vie des congolais, le léopard représente pour beaucoup bien plus qu’un simple emblème et qu’un symbole national.
L’étymologie de « Kongo » signifie « allié de léopard », expression tirée de « Ko-ngo ».
