Arrestation d’un Douanier pour Trafic d’Armes au Cap-Haïtien.-

Dans une récente opération menée par les enquêteurs du Bureau de Lutte contre le Trafic de Stupéfiants (BLTS) dans la région Nord, une arrestation spectaculaire a eu lieu. Le samedi 13 avril 2024, vers 17 h 45, Jean Bernard Joseph, chef de service et superviseur à la douane du terminal du Cap, a été appréhendé.
Selon un communiqué officiel de la police, Joseph est accusé de complicité dans le trafic international illicite d’armes à feu et de munitions. Son arrestation fait suite à un mandat d’amener émis par Me Charles Édouard Durand, Commissaire du Gouvernement près le Tribunal de Première Instance du Cap-Haïtien, daté du 12 avril 2024.
Cette arrestation est un développement majeur dans l’affaire de la saisie récente de 26 armes à feu, 999 cartouches et 34 chargeurs à l’Autorité Portuaire Nationale du Cap-Haïtien (APN) le vendredi 5 avril 2024.
En plus de l’arrestation de Joseph, les autorités ont saisi un véhicule tout-terrain de marque Land Rover, modèle LR4, immatriculé DD-0540 et de couleur blanche. De plus, une somme de 482 000 gourdes et 40 dollars américains ont été confisqués lors de l’opération.
Cette série d’événements met en lumière les défis persistants auxquels est confrontée la sécurité dans la région. L’implication présumée d’un fonctionnaire de haut rang dans des activités criminelles soulève des préoccupations quant à l’intégrité des institutions chargées de faire respecter la loi.
Les autorités affirment que des enquêtes supplémentaires sont en cours pour identifier d’autres complices potentiels et démanteler les réseaux de trafic d’armes dans la région.
