Célébration des 275 ans de Port-au-Prince : L’Ambassade d’Haïti en France lance le projet « Haïti-émergence 2049 »

L’Ambassade d’Haïti en France, sous la direction de l’Ambassadeur S.E.M Jean Josué Dahomey Pierre, a célébré avec éclat, le jeudi 13 juin 2024, les 275 ans de la fondation de Port-au-Prince. À cette occasion, une conférence d’envergure et un vernissage ont été organisés pour revisiter l’Exposition internationale de 1949, tenue sous la présidence de Dumarsais Estimé.
L’événement a réuni des figures éminentes du monde politique, diplomatique et de la société civile haïtienne. Parmi les invités de marque, on comptait le Conseiller-Président M. Frinel Joseph, le Secrétaire général du Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) M. Dimitri Kerkentzes, ainsi que les Conseillers-Présidents Leslie Voltaire et Smith Augustin, qui ont transmis des messages préenregistrés. Des diplomates de pays amis, tels que le Japon, ont enrichi la conférence en partageant leurs expériences dans l’organisation des Expositions universelles.
Des contributions significatives de la société civile haïtienne ont été apportées par les professeurs Frantz Voltaire, Jean-Marie Théodat et Josette Bruffeart-Thomas, qui ont partagé leurs perspectives et expertises.
Cette célébration s’inscrit dans le cadre de la promotion du projet ambitieux « Haïti-Émergence 2049 », qui vise à organiser une nouvelle Exposition Universelle en 2049 à Port-au-Prince. Ce projet a pour objectifs la reconstruction de la capitale haïtienne, la relance durable de l’économie nationale, l’établissement d’un cadre de coopération international renforcé et la mobilisation des Haïtiens de la diaspora et du pays.
Lors de son allocution, l’Ambassadeur Jean Josué Dahomey Pierre a exprimé sa gratitude aux autorités haïtiennes, au gouvernement dirigé par le Premier ministre Dr. Garry Conille, et au Conseil Présidentiel pour leur soutien. Il a souligné l’urgence de reconstruire Port-au-Prince et a rappelé l’héritage de résilience et de vision de Dumarsais Estimé, incitant les Haïtiens à suivre son exemple pour « réestimer » leur pays.
L’Ambassadeur a également exhorté les Haïtiens à marcher dans les pas du Président Estimé : « Réestimons-nous par la grande vision du Président Estimé ».
