Une retraitée de Saint-Pétersbourg de 86 ans n’a pas apprécié les images et a contacté la police. Une affaire pénale a été ouverte contre Malev au titre de l’article « réhabilitation du nazisme ».
Le 8 décembre, l’homme a été arrêté dans un hôtel de la perspective Nevski. Malev était arrivé en Russie deux semaines plus tôt en bus via l’Estonie. Le téléphone et l’ordinateur du détenu ont été confisqués.
